On the 21st June I presented a demonstration to the Sunshine Coast group of the Pastel Society of Australia on using charcoal and pastel wet, both for underpainting and as part of the work’s process.
One of my favourite examples from the night was on this paper that I prepared :
I covered an old pastel portrait with Art Spectrum clear primer using an old bristle brush.
I then collaged some bark and dried teabags with binder medium and then covered with AS clear pastel primer once again.
I then applied pastel and pushed this into the paper with water to establish the background.
