Weight of the World
I'm feeling the weight of world news today - have to redouble efforts to spread kindness and the need to care for each other and to care for our world. This work is from the workshop down in NSW last November - drawing on a collaged and coloured canvas. I added the collaged photocopy of a drawing I did when I was in Florence, of Michelangelo's unfinished marble. The painting is titled "The Weight of Greed".
Opening LandEscapes on Saturday 21 Jan 2023
I was privileged to be asked to officially open "Land"Escapes", an exhibition of the works of Barbara Vivash and Lee FullARTon, on Saturday (21st Jan). Thankyou to Sarah O'Neill for the photo! Two artists who present works on their reactions to the areas around the Ross River, from both the lush areas around Townsville through to the drier areas in the Central Desert. Kingaroy February workshop deferred
A dimple in the car - a dent in workshop travelling plans! The workshop planned for Feb 4th and 5th in Kingaroy at Two Sisters on using Drawings for Collage is now deferred. We are going to spend a day on drawing theory, using drawings to make stencils and prints; preparing drawings for use in collage; also, the second day will be spent collaging and colouring a canvas with these drawings, stencils and prints. Portrait Drawing Workshop Results
These two portraits were the demonstrations from my workshop in Newbridge NSW last December. There were two charcoal studies done on the first day, looking at the measurements of the face, and then using charcoal wet. This one above is on a quarter sheet of Art Spectrum Colourfix, using charcoal wet and heightening with white pastel. This one above, titled "Study - Scott, Saddlers Creek Wines" was done on the second day where we also explored using grey pastel wet. It is on a half sheet of white Art Spectrum Colourfix paper. Portrait Drawing in Newbridge Dec 2022
The group of artists working in Newbridge NSW were so welcoming. They participated in the two day workshop using charcoal, both dry and wet, and also using grey pastel. On the first day, we did a charcoal study looking at facial measurements, and then another study using wet charcoal and looking at tones. A larger portrait was completed on the second day, using grey pastel and charcoal both wet and dry. I will be offering this same workshop in Buderim on the first weekend in March, 2023.
