Stanthorpe Paintout Works (39 images) 18 to 22nd April 2023
Stanthorpe Paintout April 2023 With high hopes I travelled to Stanthorpe to participate in a paintout with other artists. I assembled old works to be made into new surfaces for the week – painted with acrylic and Free Flow; wet them and /or washed; covered with pastel primer; collaged; covered in pastel and pushed the pastel into the paper with a wet brush. All different sizes and shapes. I also prepared a bunch of old mats with backing boards, and packed a small bag with acid free double sided tape and scissors, and took along some Krystal Clear packs and
Off to paint in Stanthorpe!
Yippee! Off for days of plein air painting in Stanthorpe! I have prepared papers and really looking forward to wandering around and painting with pastels and drawing with charcoal. There is a group of wonderful artists from the Pastel Society of Australia who do this annually - what a great way to appreciate this wonderful earth. I hope to post works during the time I am away.
Finished a work today as a Gift
I have a dear cousin who is in a home, who has requested a painting with a bird, flowers and his favourite colours of green and blue. This is a detail of the work. It is wonderful to be able to use my art to bring pleasure to loved ones (also to get another canvas out of the house!).

This is the Art Spectrum Colourfix board with the collage elements attached using Atelier Binder Medium, to seal and create an archival and acid-free work. A layer of Art Spectrum clear pastel primer is placed over the collage elements and textured while still wet with a comb. When dry, a layer of a mauve pastel is applied over this. This layer of pastel is pushed in with water and a brush and allowed to dry. I placed
Qld Quilters Inc “Flora” 2023
Yesterday I co-judged the Queensland Quilters Inc State of the Art '23 competition, with Bernadine Hine. What a privilege to examine the exquisite stitching, competent design and breadth of colour presented in this show! Bernadine and I had no hesitation in selecting the clear winner, but the subsequent awards were difficult and caused much discussion due to the number of works which could have been worthy of selection. The exhibition will be touring in some venues within Queensland over the next few months - keep an eye out for the show. The image here is from a friendship quilt that
