Revisiting an older article on the Art Spectrum square soft pastels – 10 images and Progression
These pastels released by Art Spectrum have qualities to attract many pastel artists. They move freely over the surface of any toothed paper; retain their brilliant pigments whether blended in with other colours or placed over the surface of tother pastels; their water resistance is a positive factor when working with mixed media and pastel; their square shape makes for easy handling and many opportunities for various stroke-making; and just looking at the colours melts my heart! Fabulous group at Murray’s Workshop 27 and 28 May 2023
This past weekend reminded me why I love teaching so much. A wonderful group of artists gathered - very receptive and friendly, and generous with each other. Thank you to Murrays Art and Framing in Toowoomba for enabling this great experience. I will be back in October, delivering a workshop on the photo transfer process and how to use it in a mixed media work.

Design with Collage in Mixed Media – workshop Toowoomba 27/28 May
In this two day workshop we cover design and application of various collage elements; several techniques such as stamping, stencilling, printing; and painting techniques such as glazing and dry brushing. Learn how to use your drawings in collage, and how to draw directly onto the canvas. Progression of Child Portrait -8 images
I have completed a small study of a child, experimenting with glazing of colours over collage. This is the canvas with the printed napkins pieces collaged on applied with Atelier Binder Medium, and a green acrylic mix applied with Atelier Thin Medium. Here I have begun placing the head with Atelier Red Gold. Mixing the flesh colours. Beginning to place the under-flesh colours. Adding some darks and working out the placement of the hair. Volume of hair decided, and beginning to add background with a palette knife to catch the texture of the collaged elements, with the same green mix
Thrilled with awards from the PSA Annual Awards 2023 – three images
I was thrilled to receive awards in the Pastel Society of Australia Annual Awards 2023. We received entries from China, New Zealand and three Australia States, and fabulous comments from the visitors to the exhibition.
