Pastel well received Caboolture Regional Art Gallery workshop
As part of the art testers programme being run by Caboolture Regional Art Gallery I presented an Introduction to Pastel workshop there yesterday. The participants explored pastel through four exercises, including stroke making, modelling form, and using pastel wet. Thank you to Memphis for facilitating, and also to Kathleen who helped with the set up and morning tea etc - it was a great experience, and a fabulous opportunity to introduce new people to the art of using pastel.

Completed the Challenge – Self portrait in oil sticks/pastels on Mirror Back
A reflective (!) self portrait in oil sticks and oil pastels, on a mirror back. The challenge was to create something using a surface, theme and materials never used before. Previously I haven't attempted a painted self portrait, or used a mirror back, or used oil pastels and oil sticks in a complete work - so hopefully this suits. Here is the progression: "Running Out Of Tomorrows" 1. I cleaned this old mirror back that I found at an auction several years ago. 2. Almost finished that Challenge
I wrote on 5th August about having accepted a challenge from a friend to create something using materials I have never used before - and how difficult that was. Almost finished - stay posted!

Completed “Jim’s Visitor”
I began this work as a demonstration piece at the Avid Reader book signing on 20th Jul y- thnak you to all those who came along. The drawing is from a visitor to a friend's house - a very cheeky butcher bird.
Playing with Atelier Artists Inks Bundaberg Aug 19th and 20th 2023
Come along and play with Atelier Artists Pigmented Inks - supplied through the generosity of Chroma. The first day (Saturday August 19th) we will do exercises in using the inks - mixing them, watering them down, splashing and glazing and splattering etc!
