Peggy Progression – completion of demo from Newbridge Using Drawings on Canvas workshop
Another completion - this work was the demonstration piece at the Newbridge Art Group workshop 124/15 August this year, on using drawings in with collage on canvas. 1. The drawing of Mt Conobolus (from the young boy whose family owned of the dog) is adhered as part of the collage and a wet Red Gold acrylic wash applied to unify the collage elements. 2. A close up of the drawing. It is protected by sealing with Matt Spray before collaging with Atelier Binder Medium. 3. The canvas is covered with a layer of Art Spectrum clear pastel primer in preparation

Revisiting Older Works
Often I will revisit an older work after having an idea on how to improve the message I was intending to convey. My friend Michael Connolly posed for me several years ago and I attempted several ways of depicting him. All these years later I had an idea on how to strengthen this drawing - and convey Michael's strength and dedication to highlighting the beauty of his culture. I added white pastel lines and other charcoal touches. This drawing is charcoal and white pastel on Art Spectrum Colourfix paper, "Soft Umber" with black AS pastel primer brushed over. I have
1st Pastel in Burdekin!
Good news to hear that "Earth's Petition" gained 1st Place Pastel in the Burdekin annual art competition - thankyou to the organisers and the Burdekin Art Society members who work to give artists this opportunity. This work began as a demonstration of pastel over collage with a wet pastel underpainting, at a workshop in New Zealand.
