Progression of Child Portrait -8 images
I have completed a small study of a child, experimenting with glazing of colours over collage. This is the canvas with the printed napkins pieces collaged on applied with Atelier Binder Medium, and a green acrylic mix applied with Atelier Thin Medium. Here I have begun placing the head with Atelier Red Gold. Mixing the flesh colours. Beginning to place the under-flesh colours. Adding some darks and working out the placement of the hair. Volume of hair decided, and beginning to add background with a palette knife to catch the texture of the collaged elements, with the same green mix
Playing with Collage and Wet Pastel – A Progression
I enjoyed creating a small pastel landscape which began as a demo piece showing collage on paper in preparation for a pastel work. This is the Art Spectrum Colourfix board with the collage elements attached using Atelier Binder Medium, to seal and create an archival and acid-free work. A layer of Art Spectrum clear pastel primer is placed over the collage elements and textured while still wet with a comb. When dry, a layer of a mauve pastel is applied over this. This layer of pastel is pushed in with water and a brush and allowed to dry. I placed
