Michael J Connolly from Dreamtime Kullilla-Art presented a talk on his own art and business development as well as the art sold throughout Australia as Aboriginal Art which is not authentic. Michael and his wife Jo have an established business selling authentic Aboriginal Art, as well as mentoring youth, offering workshops and instructions on how to make and play didgeridoos, and speaking to Councils and other community groups. Michael is involved in community and charity work, and has been for several years.

At the Pastel Society of Australia meeting in Brisbane Tuesday evening, the members were alerted to the proliferation and greed of inauthentic Aboriginal art practices, how to try to ascertain whether souvenir art is authentic, and statistics from studies which were confronting. As fellow artists, it was disturbing to hear of the huge million dollar profits being made through dishonest practices to the disadvantage of Aboriginal artists.
