#pastel on canvas

Peggy won an award

Awarded "Juror Award" in Central Massachusetts Pastel Society's "Pastel Plus" event! Thank you to the judge Daggi Wallace, and the CMPS Committee - I deeply appreciate the chance to exhibit in an exhibition where we are encouraged to push pastel beyond being by itself on paper. Malandra Two Day Pastel/Charcoal on Canvas Workshop

We will be working on a gessoed canvas. The process will be to briefly cover basic design principles; collage and texture the canvas surface on the first day, and complete the work with paint and dry drawing media including pastel and/or charcoal. We will explore printing, stencilling and stamping; using texture mediums; glazing and dry brushing.

Peggy Progression – completion of demo from Newbridge Using Drawings on Canvas workshop

Another completion - this work was the demonstration piece at the Newbridge Art Group workshop 124/15 August this year, on using drawings in with collage on canvas. 1. The drawing of Mt Conobolus (from the young boy whose family owned of the dog) is adhered as part of the collage and a wet Red Gold acrylic wash applied to unify the collage elements. 2. A close up of the drawing. It is protected by sealing with Matt Spray before collaging with Atelier Binder Medium. 3. The canvas is covered with a layer of Art Spectrum clear pastel primer in preparation

No Press Printing Free Instructional Video

I love printing - and have developed a way of using acrylics to print from my lino plates, and other plates including collagraphs. Along with the chapter in my book "Using Chroma Art Materials" I have a free video on this process. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkQHSu4hbTM Atelier Acrylic for no-press printing in mixed media Both my books are available through my website www.triciareust.com.au I like to use acrylic paint for printing as this allows me to use my prints as collage elements. "Scrub" is a pastel and mixed media on canvas - I often print on tissue and then add these prints

Bay of Fires Evening

I completed the pastel on canvas "Bay of Fires Evening", one of the works created from my recent trip to Tasmania. The canvas is an old acrylic work, and was covered in Black Art Spectrum Pastel Primer and textured with combs while this layer was still wet. Mostly I used hard pastels, laying them on the side and dry-brushing in order to have the lovely black lines of texture remain.
