This drawing off to Germany – I’m off on my road trip!
This charcoal pastel study is off to Germany as a gift. I am off to deliver workshops on my road trip beginning in Canberra, then Newbridge, and Nelson Bay on my way home. These workshops include drawing, Mixed Media and also, pastel on canvas. Looking forward to seeing former attendees and making new friends.
Demo PSA meeting September 5th 2023
I demonstrated portrait over collage at the Brisbane meeting of the Pastel Society of Australia on Tuesday evening. The collage elements of a piece of sheet music ("I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen") and purple tissue paper, are affixed on a piece of Art Spectrum Board, and layered with AS pastel primer. I also textured the area of the head with Atelier Modelling Compound. The PSA Brisbane group meets the first Tuesday of the month in the Community Hall of the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds. All welcome - $5 entry for members and $10 entry for non-members.
Progression of Child Portrait -8 images

This is the canvas with the printed napkins pieces collaged on applied with Atelier Binder Medium, and a green acrylic mix applied with Atelier Thin Medium. Here I have begun placing the head with Atelier Red Gold. Mixing the flesh colours. Beginning to place the under-flesh colours. Adding some darks and working out the placement of the hair. Volume of hair decided, and beginning to add background with a palette knife to catch the texture of the collaged elements, with the same green mix
