Sometimes, in this life-long practice, it seems to come down to being a search for that one source of light, or breakthrough, that will bring it all together. On the canvas, 46 wide by 92 high cms (18 by 36 inches), I applied a large collage element of blue paper and some music.

Then I applied a cerulean blue wash, working in with paper towels to form the clouds, and letting another wash of pthalo turquoise drip through the lower section of the canvas.

After adding texture shapes by pushing modelling compound through a stencil, I applied a quinacridone magenta glaze in sections, dry brushed colour over texture, and drew in tree formations on the horizon with ink and a liner brush. I also stencilled in with paint the same shapes that I had added in with texture medium.

Lastly I added in the birds and paint splatters with a liner brush and Atelier Free Flow acrylic, and dry brushed more of the textured shapes.
