Often I will revisit an older work after having an idea on how to improve the message I was intending to convey.

My friend Michael Connolly posed for me several years ago and I attempted several ways of depicting him. All these years later I had an idea on how to strengthen this drawing – and convey Michael’s strength and dedication to highlighting the beauty of his culture. I added white pastel lines and other charcoal touches. This drawing is charcoal and white pastel on Art Spectrum Colourfix paper, “Soft Umber” with black AS pastel primer brushed over.
